We are a volunteer organization that augments or assists the Regular Police Department. We do not get paid for our efforts.
We average around 3,000 volunteer hours in the course of a calendar year. We have a group of 15 to 20 dedicated members that can be counted on at any given moment throughout the year. We have made an impact in the community by being observant and assisting the Police. We have been very instrumental in apprehending criminals, finding lost children, and assisting the Public. Within the Auxiliary, you have the opportunity to see first hand how a Police Department functions. You will see how a prisoner is handled. Being an Auxiliary Member gives you the opportunity to shoot on the Department pistol range on scheduled range nights.
Many of our past members have gone on to a Law Enforcement Career. Some within the Tonawanda Police Department have been past members of the Auxiliary.
*You do not need to be a resident of the City of Tonawanda to join.
